Hi! I subscribe to Birchbox Canada. I’ve recieved 3 boxes so far and I’ve been pretty happy with the contents. Customer service is great too! I’ve done a few posts on my Birchboxes, so if you want head over to my blog and check them out! Good luck and hope you find a box that you like πŸ™‚

Hi Tess! You know, I have dealt with Birchbox before, not the subscription boxes but I’ve purchased from them and I have to agree that their customer service is excellent. I will check out your reviews on them. Thanks so much for your feedback. πŸ™‚

I am addicted to sub boxes and about to sub to Birchbox lololol I currently am subscribed to Sample Society (meh), Ipsy (love), Popsugar (love), Glossybox (my first month was last month and it was so nice, but can’t really say how I feel based on one box lol) Use the code BLEND to get a free beauty blender for Birchbox <3 xoxox Janet

      May 12, 2015 at 11:52 am

Ah Janet I was hoping you add your input on here, lol. Sample Society is from Allure right? Is that the same as the Beauty Bar? I’ve heard great things on PopSugar and Ipsy has mixed reviews. Glossybox apparently had great samples and the best packaging around. I’m thinking of trying out Birchbox as I’ve dealt with them before but not for subscription boxes; their customer service is excellent. Thanks for the feedback and for the code. πŸ™‚

Yes SS is from Allure and it’s the same as Beauty Bar but they have some weird happenings going on over there and my next box may be my last. Popsugar is definitely my favorite because of the random stuff I get I didn’t think I would need or want but do! I am so excited for this month’s and if you sign up for Popsugar use the code Welcome to get a free wallet thing valued at $49! Last month’s GB was AMAZING! It was a pop art theme and I have to say I am in love πŸ™‚ People also love Boxycharm though for the same price. I chose GB because the box and free makeup bag sold me lololol. I am excited to get my first BB but I don’t know how long I will keep it since I love my Ipsy. Last month’s Ipsy was a real miss for me but this month it is 100 times better! I guess it is about updating your quiz and doing all the reviews. Can’t wait to see what you pick <3

        • stephieestie says

          May 12, 2015 at 12:20 pm

Okay, so I will skip the SS. I think I will sub to BB-heck for the price, you can’t beat it and maybe adding GB or PS. I’ll see what other’s think too. Thanks so much for this info-super helpful!

            May 12, 2015 at 1:37 pm

Yes skip SS because I fear next month’s already lolol. I will send you pictures of my boxes πŸ™‚

I think it depends what you really are into but overall I love my subscription boxes. So far I subscribe to Ipsy, Birchbox, and Boxycharm. I would say try Ipsy first, they were my first and I’ve been a member for about 3yrs now. They’re usually good with makeup items such as lip tints/lipsticks, blushes, shadows, and nail polishes. Sometime I receive skincare stuff but not often, same goes for haircare products. If you want more of skincare/hair stuff and perfume brichbox will more likely be accommodating, bother subscriptions are $10 a month, also you can earn points to redeem free makeup once accumulated. Boxycharm is $20 a month but very worth it since you get 5 full sized products instead of samples. Last month I received the reveal 3 palette along with 4 other full sized items, not bad in my opinion. Also Walmart has a beauty box subscription for $5 four times a year, which is ok if you’re interested in trying more of the drugstore stuff, same goes for Target. Target has a beauty box but it’s not subscription and it’s gets sold out almost immediately.

Oh if you do subscribe to Ipsy here’s my ref code: https://www.ipsy.com/new?refer=66nj

        And Brichbox: https://www.birchbox.com/invite/baker

I probably have one for Boxycharm but I can’t seem to login at the moment, their site is being weird.

          May 12, 2015 at 10:46 pm

Oh thanks so much, Once I sign up for BB I will def use your referral link; I used Janet’s for PopSugar. Hey if you ever want to try PopSugar, I’ll send you mine. πŸ™‚ I may hold off on Ipsy right now but again if I subscribe, your link will be used. πŸ™‚

          • Jen says

            May 13, 2015 at 9:24 am

Yes, send me your pop sugar ref code so you get the points. πŸ™‚ I’ve been on the fence about trying them. What do you usually receive from them?

          • stephieestie says

            May 13, 2015 at 9:53 pm

I haven’t tried them yet; I will be getting the first box next June so I am anxious. Therefore, I can’t give any feedback yet. I just know from Janet that she likes them and she sent pics of stuff she’s received. Once I get a feel for them, I’ll let you know and then if you want, you can use my referral link. You can use it now if you wish, but I’m honestly letting you know that I have no experience to share as of yet. πŸ™‚

      May 12, 2015 at 10:43 pm

Thanks so much for the information Jen! I love makeup, skincare and hair, nails I always forget or put last, lol. I think Birchbox and Boxycharm I will look into, I have heard mixed reviews on Ipsy so I may hold off on that one for now. Janet showed me what she received for PopSugar and I signed up for it. It has a nice variety. I’ve dealt with Birchbox before and I must say that their customer service is great! Plus the points system seems like a good idea. πŸ™‚ I may look into Target too.

      • Jen says

        May 13, 2015 at 9:26 am

I agree with Ipsy so months are hit or miss, I’ve been a member for so long that overall I think it’s great and have found so many awesome products through them. Target is weird since it’s a first comet first serve and it’s easily sold out. Also they never really give a huge heads up when they’ll be selling the box.

        • stephieestie says

          May 13, 2015 at 9:54 pm

That’s good to hear. I may try them down the line depending. πŸ™‚ Yes, Target sells out in a blink of an eye. Must be great stuff, lol.

I just started Ipsy and got my first box last month. It was great but it’s a little early for me to give really good feed back about it. I also am loving my Wal-Mart box because all the products I can pick up when I do my regular shopping. (It’s easier to shop at Wal-Mart where I live because I live on a border town where everyone flocks to our grocery stores!) And for $5 per quarter you can’t really go wrong!

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I have heard good things about the Walmart and Target boxes and yup, the price can’t be beat. I hear they fly fast though and who can blame them. πŸ™‚

I love subscription boxes! lol! I get Ipsy, Boxycharm and am going to be getting Birchbox again (starting again this month). What are you looking for in a subscription? Are you more into makeup? If so then I would recommend Ipsy. If you’re more into a mix of things such as skin care and makeup the Birchbox is a nice one too. I also love Boxycharm because you get at least 4 full-sized products and that one has a good combination of products too. πŸ™‚

I was subscribed to Ipsy and Birchbox for about a year, and I found I was accumulating a lot of “junk”.. It was few and far between that I’d receive samples I loved. If I want a sample, I can easily go to Ulta or Sephora!

Thanks for your honest opinion. I can see where things may accumulate. I’m looking at Birchbox for a mix of skincare, makeup and hair and also at PopSugar because they have various items that are non-beauty related. πŸ™‚

What a great topic!! I have Ipsy and it’s a hit and miss honestly. If I do not like an item, I will see if a friend does and normally they do! If it get a face wash or something along those lines, I save it for when I have friends or family staying over incase they forgot something. I used to have birchbox but the items were either out of my price range or I simply did not like them.

    • stephieestie says

      May 13, 2015 at 10:12 pm

Ipsy seems to get mixed reviews where there are months that people rave about them and then others where the items are eh. I’m looking into Birchbox and PopSugar but keeping Ipsy in the back burner. Thanks for the feedback. πŸ™‚

I’m not too familiar with nail polish subscription boxes but I’ve heard good things about Julep Maven and Color Me Monthly if you want to look into those. πŸ™‚ As for beauty boxes for oily skin and dry hair, I know that Birchbox and Ipsy have options to customize what samples you receive. I don’t think there is a specific box that only has items for oily skin and dry hair but if I hear of any, I will let you know. πŸ™‚
