Hair Haul!

March 19, 2015

Hair Haul

Hi readers, it’s Thursday-yay! I feel like the days are zooming by right now. ย Hope all of you are doing well.

I have a few hair products I’m reviewing today so let’s get to it.ย ๐Ÿ™‚

*Side note: I just realized some pictures came out a bit darker than I thought so apologies in advance!

HairGia

HairGia Keratin Hydrating Masque; $24.99

Described as: โ€œMoisturizing deep conditioner with keratin proteins for dry, damaged and chemically treated hair. This hair mask can be used daily as your regular conditioner or on a weekly basis as a deep conditioning mask treatment.โ€

Pros

Deeply hydrating and great after color treating hair

Smoother hair appearance and straightening hair is easier after using this

Paraben, sulfate, and cruelty free

Vegan

Color and keratin treatment safe

Cons

Fragrance is overpowering

Due to its thick consistency, sometimes the product is hard to dispense

Bottom line: I really love this conditioner as much as the Macadamia Nut Deep Conditioner.ย  My only complaints would be the smell which although isnโ€™t bad is overpowering-kind of floral like.ย  Also, there is an ingredient in here that makes my body itch if I use it onย  regular basis so I personally limit use to about 1x per week.

Oribe Text

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray; $22

Described as: โ€œBigger, better, full-on glamorous hair. This invisible dry hair spray builds in incredible volume and sexy texture. Patented polymers absorb oil at the roots, leaving you with just-styled hair for days (and nights).”

Pros

Available in travel/purse size

Smells amazing

UV protection

Provides texture

Color and keratin treatment safe

Invisible spray-sprays clear

Good for holding styles

Cons

A little on the pricey side

Does not absorb oil

Doesn’t provide shine

Bottom line: I like this product as a styling product as it provides texture but I wouldn’t recommend it as a dry shampoo since it doesn’t absorb oil very well. ย This and the Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray are great when I style my curly hair.

Oribe Surf

Oribe Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse; $22

Described as:ย  โ€œSexy, surfed-in hair is no longer the domain of beachgoers in their tropical climes. Texturize your locks with this hydrating mousse that creates perfectly imperfect separation for that effortlessly tousled look.โ€

Pros

Available in travel/purse size

Color and keratin treatment safe

Good for creating piecey/tousled hair

Doesn’t leave that ‘crunch’ factor in hair

Smells good

Cons

Sticky texture and residue

Doesn’t provide shine

Hair feels very dry after use

Bottom line: I did not like this mousse at all. ย I tried it both on wet hair and dry and I couldn’t get past the sticky residue left on both my hair and hands after use. ย It defines curls and provides texture to straight hair but left the ends feeling and looking dry. ย I wanted to like it but after many uses, it’s a no for me. ๐Ÿ™

Dry Bar

Dry Bar Detox Dry Shampoo; $12

Described as: โ€œProlong your blowout with Detox Dry Shampoo! It absorbs oils, impurities, and odor while providing body and fullness, leaving hair feeling fresh and clean. Lightweight and easy to use, the micro powder blends in perfectly with hair color, leaving no white residue behind.”

Pros

Safe for color and keratin treated hair

Available in trial/travel size

Affordable

Absorbs oil effectively

Provides volume

Great to use after the gym

Paraben, sulfate and phthalates free

Cons

There is a white residue left behind if you don’t work it into hair

Overpowering smell- you’ll either like it or hate it. I personally like it.

Bottom line: I had seen this reviewed in a couple of blogs before and I am so glad I tried it. ย It’s a really great product that helps refresh your hairย and prolongs your style.

Skin Food Olive

Skin Food Extra Virgin Olive Oil Hair Essence; $18

Described as: โ€œ A hair treatment serum that contains refined extra virgin olive oil.ย  Calms unruly curls and frizzy hair while adding shine.โ€

Prosย

Adds shine

You can layer it without a greasy look or feel

Nice and subtle clean scent

Defines curls

Cons

Available in select Skin Food stores or online

Price fluctuates depending where you buy it from

Need quite a bit of product to add shine

Bottom line: I’ve purchased this product a few times already and I love it. ย It does sometimes take a little bit more product use to add shine while I am straightening my hair but the end result is soft and smooth hair.

Hope you enjoyed this post! ย What hair products are you currently loving? ย Any recommendations?ย

I love hair products, so I loved reading this post ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve been dying to try out Oribe products, but there kinda of expensive. I’ve been loving the Tresemmรฉ Diamond Collection, I don’t know if it’s available in the US, but I might have a review coming up on it.

    Love reading your posts! Kisses**

Glad you enjoyed them Steph! Oribe products are a hit or miss with me but I would highly recommend the Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray and the Dry Texturizing spray. ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t seen the Tresemme Diamond Collection but I look forward to your review. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have to check out those products online ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks! Kisses**

          Of course! ๐Ÿ™‚

Great post Stephanie! Sadness the Surfcomber didn’t work out for you ๐Ÿ™ I love it but hate the stickiness. I sadly do not have any hair products that I love love, there is the hair mask Reify sent me but I don’t think it is available here ๐Ÿ™ Hope you have a great Thursday xoxoxo Janet

Thank you Janet! I just realized the pictures wouldn’t have come out so dark, especially Oribe Dry Text spray. ๐Ÿ™ They didn’t look like that when I uploaded them but I think when I re-size them, that’s the issue. I wanted to love that product but it just wasn’t happening. ๐Ÿ™ It’s oaky, I’ll see what I will stumble upon next. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great post Stephanie! I am always on the look out for new hair products. I think I use a dozen different ones of course not all at once lol. I need to get myself an affordable dry shampoo that works very well that I can just pick up at Walmart or something, any suggestions? ๐Ÿ™‚

    • stephieestie says

      March 19, 2015 at 2:03 pm

Thanks Katie! Me too! The only thing that sucks is when my hair or body starts itching in reaction to an ingredient. That’s what happened with the Davines’ products and I loved them. ๐Ÿ™ Hmmm I’ve tried Tresemme Dry Shampoo but wasn’t a fan. I hear the Herbal Essence one has good reviews but I haven’t tried it and also the dry shampoo called Pssst. (I think that’s how it’s spelled). If you ever get a chance though do try Dry Bar Detox (you can order online through Sephora) and HairGia Masque- they are amazing products. ๐Ÿ™‚

        March 19, 2015 at 2:24 pm

Thanks! I will keep those in mind and look them up. The only dry shampoos that I have tried were deluxe samples in subscription boxes. I’ve tried Amika Perk it up or something like that and the Klorane one which I did like but those are more expensive. I think my friend said she liked one by Garnier Fructis. So many decsions! lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • stephieestie says

          March 19, 2015 at 8:52 pm

No problem! I’ve heard great things about Klorane too! I know, the struggles of what items to buy/try, lol. I totally can relate. Let me know how the Garnier one works. ๐Ÿ™‚

            March 19, 2015 at 9:21 pm

I will let you know how it works! I think I am going to try it soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been loving the Garnier Sleek & Shine leave in conditioner. I use it 2-3 times a week. My hair feels a lot softer.

    • stephieestie says

      March 19, 2015 at 8:53 pm

Thanks for sharing. I think I’ve tried that one and it was good. The shampoo however dried out my hair. ๐Ÿ™

      • TheMakeupCase17 says

        March 19, 2015 at 8:56 pm

I haven’t tried any of their shampoos/conditioners but I love their styling products.

        • stephieestie says

          March 19, 2015 at 9:03 pm

To be honest, I don’t think you’re missing out much on the shampoos. I’m really loving Tresemme keratin heat styling spray though, so that one might be worth checking out if you heat style your hair often. I’m not a huge fan on most Tresemme products, but this one is good and the price is awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚

            March 19, 2015 at 9:05 pm

I’ve tried that one and like it. I just repurchased the Garnier one though as I liked it a lot (and it’s infused with Argan Oil). I like the regular Tresemme one as well.

Such a great post Stephie – these products look fantastic ๐Ÿ™‚ Would love to try the Orbie range for sure!! Karen x

    • stephieestie says

      March 19, 2015 at 8:58 pm

Thank you Karen! Oribe has some good products and I think you’d like the Dry Texture spray. ๐Ÿ™‚ Like I mentioned, they have purse/travel sizes that aren’t too cruel to the wallet.

        March 20, 2015 at 3:48 am

I think that’s the perfect place for me to start off!!!! Plus it won’t make my hubbys eyes water (as much) lol Have a great weekend lovely ๐Ÿ™‚ XXX

        • stephieestie says

          March 20, 2015 at 3:24 pm

Haha. Yes, these can get $$ but travel sizes let you spend a little less and let you have a feel for the product. ๐Ÿ™‚ Birchbox has a great return policy if you decide to purchase from them. ๐Ÿ™‚

            March 21, 2015 at 8:52 am

Thanks so much Stephie – I’ve never tried Birchbox before so I’ve no idea if they deliver to Ireland but will definitely look into it huni ๐Ÿ™‚ x

Great hair haul!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I love anything with keratin in it, my hair will just absorb it all up and feel super smooth from it.

    • stephieestie says

      March 19, 2015 at 9:00 pm

Mrs. Jen, I am glad to see you back, even if it’s just for a bit! ๐Ÿ™‚ You have to try HairGia- I think you will absolutely love it! I think you mentioned you had wavy hair and this smoothes my hair and makes it so much easier to style. Perfect for heat or chemically damaged hair. Thanks for stopping by. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Jen says

        March 19, 2015 at 9:13 pm

Awe, thanks! I miss you all so much! I have so much to catch up on! Yes, I do have wavy hair, I would love to try something to smooth it out more. I’ll look into HairGia! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for the recommendation! xo <3

        • stephieestie says

          March 19, 2015 at 9:20 pm

You’re welcome! We miss you too! I’m catching up on posts as we speak. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you can, go to a beauty supply store and see if they have samples. That’s how I was introduced to the product. They gave out samples with purchases. ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Jen says

            March 19, 2015 at 9:28 pm

Ah that’s good to know! I’ve actually never asked for samples at a beauty supple store but I should! lol Maybe my beauty supple store is just cheap. I’ll look for it though the next time I hit it up.

          • stephieestie says

            March 19, 2015 at 10:28 pm

Yes, you never know. Or ask about their return policy that way if it doesn’t work out you can return it. Most beauty stores should have some sample though. I haven’t had luck with the Moroccan Oil ones but they suggested HairGia and here we are. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • stephieestie says

      March 19, 2015 at 9:01 pm

By the way, I posted a giveaway so if you’re interested, head on over to check it out. ๐Ÿ™‚

I really want to try the Oribe. Good to know that it isn’t a full on oil absorbing hair product. I wouldn’t have known. So thanks! And also the dry bar one looks interesting to me.

    • stephieestie says

      March 23, 2015 at 11:25 am

You’re welcome! Oribe, good for texture, Drybar, great for oil absorbing. I will say the Drybar has a really potent scent just in case you’re sensitive to scents. I love the smell personally but it is strong. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • StyledWithJoy says

        March 23, 2015 at 11:37 am

Ok thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. I should probably try to smell one before I ever think of buying the drybar one.

I friggin’ love the Oribe Dry Texture Spray (as evidenced by my Birchbox purchase last night, lol). I don’t use it as a dry shampoo but as a texture spray and it gives me the perfect shape and texture without being heavy or waxy. It’s amazing!! Happy Friday. XO

    • stephieestie says

      March 23, 2015 at 12:01 pm

I love the texture it gives as well. Perfect for that bed hair look!. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

They have the purse size available if that’s any help. It’s the one I got because his products tend to be $$. I think it’s about $22.
